Nat’s Review of Crux Untamed by Tillie Cole

A broken woman.
A damaged man.
A free spirit intent on saving them both.

Elysia ‘Sia’ Willis lives a solitary life. The only person in it is her big brother, Ky, vice-president of the infamous Hades Hangmen. She loves him, but she has absolutely no love for the outlaw MC he belongs to.
Raised in secret by her mother, Sia grew up separated from her brother and distant father. No one knew she even existed.

After the tragic murder of her mother, Sia spiraled into a rebellion against the rules of the Hangmen. A rebellion with dire consequences that now, years later, she still can’t escape.

As she lives once again in secret, happy on her own at her secluded ranch, a devil from her past comes calling. A devil who wants to possess her once again and take her from the simple life she never wants to lose.
And he will stop at nothing to collect what he believes is his: her.

Valan ‘Hush’ Durand and Aubin ‘Cowboy’ Breaux have finally found a home in the mother chapter of the Hangmen. The notoriously private Cajun twosome have, for now, put aside what chased them from their beloved Louisiana. But as threats toward the club build, Hush and Cowboy are given a task—protect Elysia Willis at all costs. Cowboy welcomes the job of watching over the blond-haired, blue-eyed beauty.
Hush fights against it.

Scarred by events from his past and a secret that plagues his everyday life, Hush refuses to let anyone else get close. Only Cowboy knows the real him. Until a certain sister of the club’s VP begins to slowly knock down his defenses, shattering the heavily built walls that guard his damaged soul . . . with his best friend leading the charge.

As lost and open hearts begin to meld, taking each other from indescribable pain to the never-before felt relief of peace, the newly-mended threesome must first endure one more rocky path.
Only then will they finally shake free of the shackles of their pasts.
Only then will they shed the bonds that have for too long held their happiness captive.
And there is only one way to survive that path . . . together.

Dark Contemporary MFM Romance. Contains scenes of violence and explicit sexual situations. Over 18’s only.

What a beautifully written love story! This was not conventional in any sense of the word… but it was very much still a love story in which three lost souls come together and share in their tortured pasts to find that they make each other whole! This book was everything I was hoping for, it didn’t really feature the Cult this time but by no means did that detract from the story as all your favourite characters were once again featured in this gritty, emotion-filled ride. I don’t want to give away anything as everyone needs to experience this truly heartfelt story for themselves… I can honestly say I have a new found appreciation for love and the many forms it manifests itself in.

Everyone’s had a summer crush. One that’s etched into your memories
so hard that it leaves an indelible mark, like a scar on your heart. For me,
that crush is my first love, Carver Edwards. I met him at fifteen at summer
camp, and for three perfect summers, he was mine.
Until the blazing heat of the
summer sun faded and reality crashed in. Carver went off to college, leaving me
trapped in my small farming town, with no way of reaching him and a problem I
needed solving.
As the senior captain of my college basketball team, all I’ve been
focused on the past four years has been playing, school, getting drafted in the
NBA, and steering clear of relationships. I didn’t want them. I had nothing to
give another girl. I’d given it already. So, I built my rep as a player, and
honed my natural ability to charm the pants off girls. It’s what I did. Who I
was. Who I am.
Until March, when a lay-up during a tournament landed me in an
emergency room, under the care of Logan Shaw – my first love. Of all the people
I could run into, why did it have to be her? Not only did my face get split
wide open, but so did the locks that held the pain I’d attempted to bury for so
many years.
Now that she’s back in my life, we must face the truth and the
consequences of our actions – even if it could destroy us. We must uncover the
truths that have kept us shackled from moving forward. That could possibly set
us free.
Sweet Summer Love by Sierra Hill is a second chance love story that had all the right feels in it that made me love it. Carver is upcoming NBA draft player and Logan Shaw is the girl who got away. Logan has been living in her home town trying to build a life for herself after dealing with a rough ending to a relationship that meant so much to her. When Carver and Logan see each other again, the sparks are still there and the love they once had is still burning bright.

I tuck the corner of
the towel a little tighter between my boobs and step out of the bathroom,
quietly tiptoeing around the corner to see what’s going on.
I’m stunned when my
eyes land on a very familiar pair of latte-colored irises. Holy shit. Carver is standing
in my living room, whooping it up with my roommate. And he’s an hour early for
our date. What kind of parallel-universe is this?
Forgetting all about
my attire, I step into view and clear my throat to gain their attention.
Wrong move.
Carver’s head pops up
and his eyes slowly rake over me with a look that I can only describe as
unfiltered desire. My knees may even wobble a bit. My stomach does an
Olympian-sized flip.
Having Carver’s
lust-filled eyes peruse me from head to toe is unnerving. But makes me feel
insanely good. The way he makes me feel is better than chocolate-caramel ice
cream. Better than a hot bubble bath on a cold, dreary Seattle night. Just
better than anything else I know.
I don’t miss the
dimple that makes an appearance as the corner of his mouth tips up into a

I’m the girl from the school of
hard knocks.

Nothing has ever come easy for me. So forgive me
if I’m a bit reluctant about Kincaid Griffin – born-with-a-silver-spoon in his
mouth, conceited college hoops player. A guy who could get any girl he wants,
and yet, is suddenly everywhere I am trying to woo me. The more I protest, the
more persistent he becomes.

I’m a lucky bastard.

Let’s face it. As a college athlete, I don’t
chase girls – they come to me. I’m as arrogant and cocky as they come, getting
nearly everything I want, whenever I want. But there is nothing sweeter than a
girl who plays hard to get. And Ainsley Locker is so full of confidence that
she knocks me off my feet from the moment I meet her. She’s a challenge. And I
like challenges. So I go full-court press to win her over.

But when a stupid mistake turns
viral, slam dunking all over my life in a media frenzy, my spot on the team may
be in jeopardy, along with my shot at winning the girl.
Sweet Girl
I’ve always lived in the shadows
of my athletic older brother and my charismatic twin sister. And that’s okay by
me. I don’t mind being known as the shy wallflower. The gawky geek. The sweet,
virginal girl. Well, that’s one label I’ve been trying to shed since starting
my freshman year in college this year. The thing is, no one’s ever looked twice
at me.
Until I met Van Gerard.
He notices me. He looks at me and
seems to like what he sees. He understands and listens to me. He’s become a
great friend. The problem is, I don’t want him as a friend.
I want more.
But my brother – along with a
state line between us, and oh yeah, Van’s long-time girlfriend – are just a few
complications getting in the way of what I want.
I thought my senior year in
college would be the best time of my life. I’m a starter on a Pac-12 basketball
team, set to graduate with a degree in Finance. I have a girlfriend whom I’d
planned to start a future with. I thought my life was already mapped out.
But then the bottom dropped out
with a confession I never expected to hear, from the girl I thought I knew.
I thought wrong.
Luckily for me, Kylah Griffin was
there to break my fall. She’s the best thing this year has given me. She’s
helped me through a devastating blow that could have sent me reeling.
I know she wants more, but I’m not
sure I can give it. Now that I’ve been burned, I don’t think I can go there
again. Kylah’s not a hook-up, and she’s definitely not a rebound. She’s a sweet
girl who deserves more than to be friend-zoned.
If only things weren’t
so complicated.

Review: Carnal Obsession: His Heart’s Prisoner by Reily Garrett

Life on the street molds emotional athletes.

Three years ago, her brother’s death marked the beginning of Kendra’s new life, an existence with no home, no family, and no friends. Time in the underground byways toughened her emotional shell with the loose association of like-minded street rats where survival meant compromise and constant vigilance.

Before he died, Billy had sent her a package in care of his teammate, Conner. For Kendra, re-entrance into polite society comes with a deadly price, as betrayal comes from both sides of the grave.

Conner Crofton owns the BDSM club Ambrosia. After failing to protect his teammate on their last covert mission, penance takes form as a promise to safeguard Billy’s little sister, a girl he’d unknowingly remanded to a world of darkness and uncertainty, deception and psychopathic stalkers.

The past will always haunt us. Each must earn forgiveness and trust as passion, guilt, deception, and betrayal, interweave a destiny formed long ago. A romantic suspense with a twist.

Reilly Garrett has another fabulous story with Connor’s story!

Mackendra, Billy’s younger sister, had difficulty accepting the death of her brother. Connor, Billy’s best friend, also felt guilt about his death. While one runs from problems literally the other does it figuratively until they don’t!

This story has some very dark tones of death, war and unhealthy obsession. However it also has some excellent humour laced through it…for e.g. ‘Thanking both visitors, he said goodbye while silently wishing them each a raging case of poison ivy. ‘ thought by Conner…lightening the darkness.

Great use of descriptive vocabulary by this author who is a wizard with words. This fast paced story enthrals from the beginning and continues to entertain until the last page.

Kendra is scraping by while living on the street. Making ends meet doing odd jobs and playing in a band with her friends. She gets a gig at an exclusive club, but gets thrown for a loop when she meets up with her old (and apparently still very current) crush and her brother’s best friend, Connor. Finding out he is the owner of the BDSM Club is hard for Kendra to swallow. Coming face to face with her past is also difficult, as her past is the reason she ran and is now living on the streets.

Connor promised Kendra’s brother Billy that he would take care of her. Now three years later he has finally found her. She has been in the wind since her brother’s death, but now he is not letting her go. Just getting the fiery minx to do what he says will be the challenge. Kendra has never listed to him. She has always been like a little sister. But Kendra is not all grown up and there is a very serious threat against Kendra. Connor must keep Kendra safe while fighting his feelings for Kendra and deflecting her advances at the same time.

Carnal Obsession was a quick read that had an air of mystery, deceit, sexual tension, some action, and some erotica. The overall premise of the book was good. However, I think that that book needed a little more focus on the relationship build with Kendra and Connor. There were a few things in the book that seemed unanswered or were addressed abruptly given the initial attention in the book. Personally, I could have done without the threat to Kendra and had a lot more focus on Connor winning over Kendra. However, the book was enjoyable and an entertaining read.
