Title: The Darkness Series: The Complete Saga
Author: Cassia Brightmore
Genre: Dark Romance
Release Date: November 7, 2016

All four books in this heart-stopping, dark romance series are now available in one boxed set! Prepare to be on the edge of your seat with each one of these mind-blowing thrillers in a series you won’t soon forget.
Darkness has a seductive power, a delicious energy that sinks its claws in deep. Once the devil has a hold of you, true malevolence is born.
Sheriff Brady James has sworn to protect the small town of Durham Heights, his current priority to ruthlessly hunt a sadistic killer on the loose. With lives at stake, his focus is split between two beautiful women – one dark, one light. The clock is ticking, the threat palpable; crawling closer at every turn. Once death has you in its sights, there is no escape.
Malevolent was a dark erotic thriller. Cassia Brightmore definitely brings it in this book. Someone is kidnapping and killing women in a small town. Not just killing them, but torturing them as well. We know that the killer gets off on cutting and drinking the blood of his victims before he further abuses them. The town sheriff is at his wits end when it comes to this perp. Little does he know that the crimes are committed by someone close to him and the killer is not alone. When the killer starts taking people close to the sheriff, things get really crazy. You will never guess who is behind the dark and dirty.

This book had it all-dark erotica, thriller, romance, a strong leading female, and a hot sexy alpha male. The plot was great and kept me guessing until the very end.

If your soul has been plunged into the dark depths of despair, how hard would you fight to claw your way back to the surface? Can the life you lost be restored, or is it destined to be forever phased out of existence? Fated to dissolve into a distant memory.
A sinister criminal ring has descended on the small town of Norton Springs, instilling fear in the residents. A vicious wave of disappearances coupled with the gut-wrenching horror of infants being ripped from the arms of their helpless mothers has the town quaking in terror.
Evanesce is the second book in the Darkness series by Cassia Brightmore. After reading Malevolent, I wasn’t sure how much darker this series could get. However, Evanesce delivered a dark and twisted story that had me saying WHAT????????? at the very end.

Brooke, the poor soul, is abducted and forced to be an “employee” at the hands of the deranged black market mastermind, Marcus Drake. Forced into sexual slavery, Brooke must endure unfathomable torture to her mind and body to supply Marcus with his “product”. Despite her situation Brooke is a fighter and continues to fight until the very end.

Nora is a ranch owner that is brought back together with the love of her life, Gabe, after a long absence. A rocky start brings these lovers back together, but the dastardly doings in their town interrupts their happy reunion. Especially when tragedy strikes Nora and Gabe. Determined to find out who is behind these crimes and to right the wrong done to Gabe and Nora, Gabe, Theo, and Brady (the sheriff from Malevolent) strike at the heart of the snake to bring the operation down. However, there is a twist you never see coming.

This book had a whole lot of WHAT??????? in it. It is dark, twisted, and gritty. Brooke is a strong character that has you rooting for her right from the beginning. I felt dirty every time I had to read about Marcus and Milo. I liked seeing Brady make an appearance in this book. I think that there is more from his story that needs to be told and I can see where they are beginning to tie together. Nora and Gabe were great characters as well. The author threw us a zinger with this one and I really hope to a good resolution in the next book. I also need more of Theo’s back story. He is very intriguing. A good read that makes me need the next book.

The past and present collide in the final book of the Darkness Series. Old enemies return and unlikely allies are formed when a serial arsonist targets the small town of Stockton Crossing, Louisiana. Working together with the surrounding towns of Durham Heights and Norton Springs, firefighter Lieutenant Weston Hunt is forced out of his reclusive tendencies to help apprehend the madman.
When Aubrey Sinclair, the sexy librarian he’s always had a thing for becomes the next target, they are thrown together in more ways than one. She needs his protection and he’s powerless to deny her. With the chaos closing in around them, will they solve the puzzle before it’s too late? Or is their destiny to go down in a fiery blaze?
The Darkness Series keeps getting better as they go on. Denouement is the third installment in the series and brings us the story of firefighter, West, and the somewhat meek librarian, Aubrey. Their town is under attack by an unknown arsonist. West is somewhat of a recluse after the death of his brother some years before, but the little librarian, Aubrey may just be the ticket to bring him out of his shell. While West is trying to get Aubrey to take a chance on him, his town is being victimized by a sadistic killer/arsonist. We soon learn that the web of darkness and evil is bigger than anyone expected.

Denouement brings us some new characters with Aubrey and West, but we also get to see Sheriff Brady and Gwyn. I was also happy to see Nora and “Gabe” in this book. At least I finally had my resolution to the second book. I was going mad not knowing if we were going to get closure. I can definitely say that Cassia Brightmore is not afraid to stir things up, as we can attest to with this book. No character is safe in her book. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Obsession is a passionate emotion. A dark blend of desire and longing; it distorts reality into twisted fantasies. How far would you go to ensure the object of your infatuation is forever in your possession?
Two people thrown together in a twist of fate. One running from his past; the other chasing a brighter future. Can they be each other’s salvation? Or will any happiness they find be ripped to shreds by the deadly obsession of another? Redemption comes at a high-staked price no one is willing to pay as the Darkness Series returns for one last mind-blowing trip into the depths of despair.
Repentance is the fourth story in the Darkness series. This book gives us the story of Sam Ridley. We first met sam in Malevolent when he was a Sheriff’s Deputy and searching for a killer. Unfortunately for Sam, the love of his life, Hailey was a victim to the killer in the first book. Fast forward to the third book and Sam makes another appearance, not necessarily for the better, which gives us the foundation for Repentance.

In Repentance, Sam is out of prison after serving time for the crimes he committed in Denouement. Intent on starting a new life, Sam relocates to Tennessee. While starting his business, he meets Emma, who has a sad and somewhat tragic past herself. She wants to make something of herself and gets a job working with Sam. However, as with all of Ms. Brightmore’s books, there is no clear path to a happily every after. Sam and Emma must contend with a killer(s), who want to take away what little happiness Sam has left.

Repentance is a good addition to the Darkness series. It is dark, gritty, and will leave you saying “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?” I like how the characters are intertwined in the books. I do find it a bit farfetched that these same characters have to deal with so many killers and tragedy, but I guess that is the fictional aspect. However, the book is very entertaining and a good read.
