I will begin by saying that I did not read the first book in the Thornfield series. Therefore, I was a little lost at first. However, after reading a few chapters, Paradox gave me enough backstory I was able to follow the story jump right in without missing a beat.

Paradox is written in such a way it reminds me of an older classic novel. (i.e. Jane Eyre, etc..), but actually takes place in 2000. The characters are very prim and proper. Jane Doe was been unwanted her whole life. Given up to an orphanage by her aunt at at the age of 10, she suffered unspeakable cruelty. Now she is the manager of the Thornfield hotel and in love with the owner, Edward Rochester. Believed to be in love with the insufferable man, Jane is recovering after having her love thrown back at her by none other than the man she loves. Trying to decide what to do with her life, Jane discovers herself, and discovers the many secrets of the Thornfield hotel.

Paradox is a bit of a romantic love story with some mystery and drama. I enjoyed the self discovery that Jane Doe went through in this book. Despite the mood swings from Edward, I really liked his characters as well. Overall the book was a good read and I really enjoyed it.
