But I had no control over my fiancé’s decision to leave me.
What better place to be alone while nursing my broken heart than in paradise, right? Two weeks of sandy beaches and tranquil waters to quietly rethink my life.
That’s what I thought anyway—until Drew Mariano came along and shook everything up. He shook me up.
He made me forget myself. And that was good.
He made me want to take chances. And that was hard.
He made me feel high on life. And that was amazing.
But I was afraid…the higher I got…
I was going
Being the first book by this author that I’ve read, I wasn’t sure of her style. No problem- it is polished and very easy to read.
Sam is an author who has personal loss that ends up with him on a plane by himself going to Hawaii. Drew finds himself in the same situation sitting next to Sam on the plane. Meeting again at the hotel where they are both staying challenges both men in more ways than one.
I really liked the characters and would love to have them as neighbours, it would be so much fun! Beth Michele does a great job describing each character by building a visual with specific vocabulary that enables a reader to really feel they know them.
I gave it 3 1/2 stars because although it is an easy to read story I felt at times it slowed a little and this change of pace was a little confusing.
Overall I really enjoyed the story especially the humour, drama and passion.
Beth Michele is an author of M/F and M/M New Adult and Contemporary Romance. She writes stories with heart, about love, life, and everything in between. She is a Connecticut native who loves spending time with her husband and two children. If you can’t find her, though, she’s probably hiding out with either her laptop or Kindle somewhere quiet, preferably a spot overlooking the ocean. She has an affinity for Twizzlers, Swedish Fish, and makes a damn good hot chocolate.
