Review
The Violet Widow is the first book in The Shattered Heart Series. It is a very strong start that has drawn me in and made me want more, giving me the need to read the second book in the series.
Violet is dealt a devastating and life altering hand at the beginning of the book. I was in tears while reading the first few chapters, because I could relate to Violet as a mother. The loss and devastation pulled at my heart. Moving forward several years, Violet has become a new person, The Violet Widow. This was the only way she could survive. On the anniversary of the worst day of her life, Violet meets a handsome stranger. Although she is attracted to Rock, Violet feels as if she is betraying the memory of her family. She continues to see Rock to allow their relationship develop and to let her walls down slowly. Rock is willing to allow the relationship move forward under Violets rules, which include no details of their personal life. However, when Violet finally decides to tell Rock (Hudson) the truth, she may lose everything for a second time.
I enjoyed the characters and the relationships that they had with each other. They came across as real and not just people on a page. The banter between Violet and Rock was witty and entertaining. It also has some mystery, drama, romance, and erotica. I did figure out the twist prior to the end of the book, but iit was a good send off that made me have a need to grab the second book to find out what happens. A good weekend read that is really entertaining.

A Different Shade of Violet is the second book in the Shatteren Hearts Series. It continues to follow Violets and Hudson’s saga. He has since learned of her sordid past and determined that he can’t be with her despite his never ending love for Violet. Now Violet is all alone and having to face the blackmail of the Satan’s Savages on her own. Being the feisty firecracker she is, she stands up to the MC, but when her life is in dire jeopardy, she turns to the one person she knows will help despite their issues. Can Husdon overlook Violets past and be with her? What will it take for him to realize he needs her in his life, forever?
This book was a good follow up to The Violet Widow. It did have quite a bit more wishy washy back and forth “I love you, but I can’t be with yous” than I think were needed. However, the overall storyline was great. The emotions were all over the place. I was rootin for Violet and Hudson to get their act together so we could get a HEA after everything they went through. I will definitely be reading more books by K E Osborn.
